A circus concentration in the art of flexibility. Students learn proper warmup techniques from Western, Mongolian, and Russian methods to prevent injury and increase mobility and strength within stretches. Students learn poses, elements, and partner stunts to develop into choreography. Elements such as cheststands, elbowstands, handstands, backbends, and frontbends will be explored. Performance skills will also be incorporated into training. Parents and students must consult with instructor before enrolling in a class. 1 hour of ballet per week in required for all students taking a contortion class. Beginner contortion students must build proper core strength through ballet or equivalent in order to support flexibility.
